Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Elisa Padilla, a 22-year-old college graduate who received a B.S. in exercise science and minor in psychology at Northern Arizona University. For the past couple of years, I have been involved with exploring different healthcare professions, shadowing a physical therapist, and working as a lifeguard. I take great interest in learning about the health sciences and finding opportunities to broaden my experiences. Feel free to explore around this site to learn more about me.

Current Work

Mayo Clinic (2022)

Being a Desk Operations Specialist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic has been my most recent venture. After graduating, I felt it was very important to gain more patient experience, and I could think of no better place than Mayo Clinic. As a Desk Operations Specialist, I help onboard patients for treatment, doctor visits, and survivorship check ups. Getting to know the patients has been my favorite part of the job and its very fulfilling to be able to put a smile on their faces during this particular hard time. One of the ways we help patients get through treatment is by offering to paint their treatment masks. I have been fortunate to apply my artistic skills for patients by painting masks centered around their likes and passions.

About

Ever since grade school my favorite subject has been science, which later led me to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. Originally from Tucson Arizona, I found myself moving north of Arizona stopping at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. At NAU I had been able to continue my passion for science by expanding my knowledge over the various topics of anatomy/physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, and psychology. I personally love how these subjects may be different but in reality they all have a way of connecting with each other in one way or another. I am also grateful when I get opportunities to apply and connect my knowledge to real life scenarios.

Shadowing a physical therapist at Flagstaff Bone and Joint was a great way to apply my knowledge from my courses of anatomy/physiology, kinesiology, and even psychology. From this experience I learned that it not only took the patient’s physical ability, but also their mental ability in order to succeed in their rehabilitation process. Seeing how much this opportunity impacted my understanding of my studies has inspired me to pursue a career helping people in the clinical realm. While also wanting to pursue a career involving my interest in the cardiac field I strive for higher education in the field of echocardiography.
